As we age, many of our health concerns increases but it doesn’t have to be this way. Eating healthy and being active on a daily basis is probably the best defense against any health issues as it is essentially our fountain of youth. There are some areas of our own body that we need to focus on because they are more likely to cause us issues down the road. Two areas of the body that I think needs to be strengthened as we get older is the back and hips. Both are usually neglected mainly because the exercises that focuses on these areas are lacking. The fractures of the hip is something that is concerning for me because many of my relatives suffer from it. I don’t think it’s hereditary even though it may be but I believe it is more so that they lacked exercise that area. One study looked at ways to help decrease hip fracture and they have successfully discovered one method that seems to be pretty effective. It involves the use of music simply is that. A doctor who did the research tested over individuals who performed exercise routine to music sometimes hip-hop the focused on hopping. These hopping exercise goal are to provide increasing the density of the bone in the hip and lower body. The doctor made all the patients to perform the on one leg only, where the other was more of a control element in order to use as a comparison. After the study was completed, the data was analysed and saw that bone density of the leg that was used in the work out increased by 7%. This is a very important area because it is common for this to fracture from the common fall especially in older individuals. What is need to be taken from the study is that they exercise that were given to the patients were done at a gradual pace and were carefully monitored. The risk of injury from this hopping exercise is risky for those with really weak bones but the rewards is greater in the long run you’re essentially strengthening the hip. Slow and steady is a key in performing this exercise in order to seat results. And remember to keep a healthy diet and if you are living in areas with the lack of healthy food choices then maybe looking into building your own garden or get your community involve.
